For many Oracle Applications customers, the adoption of cloud solutions is a journey with unique objectives and timeframes. The users community includes customers across a continuum of cloud adoption phases, including many that report their on-premises environments will remain in place for some time.
During COLLABORATE 17, Steve Daheb, senior vice president, Oracle Cloud, acknowledged in his keynote presentation that an overwhelming majority of companies are still in the early stages of their journeys to the cloud. He went on to talk about the importance of providing and supporting choices for customers as they navigate a personalized path to the cloud.
While many organizations are not moving to the cloud in the immediate future, there is strong interest in learning about cloud solutions. A recent user community survey regarding Oracle Cloud adoption and usage, conducted by the OAUG and Oracle, revealed that a majority (81%) of respondents feel that learning about cloud solutions will help maintain or enhance their careers. The results of the survey also identified user experience stories as the preferred type of information and education to support the evaluation and implementation of Oracle Cloud solutions.
"These survey results reflect trends we're seeing in the marketplace and highlight the importance of choice as organizations consider how to take advantage of cloud."Steve Daheb, Senior Vice President, Oracle Cloud
The OAUG has a large archive and continues to source educational content for its on-premises customers. In addition, for customers that may wish to add modules to their on-premises product footprint, the OAUG has identified a central Oracle sales organization focused on providing assistance with licensing and product needs. If you missed it, use your OAUG member login to download "Q&A with Oracle EBS On-Premises Sales" (PDF file).
For those looking for cloud education, upcoming OAUG eLearning sessions explore Oracle Cloud ERP Financials and Procurement, an Oracle Financials Cloud 10 upgrade, planning and budgeting in the cloud, and tips and tricks for reporting in the cloud. These sessions join a growing archive of cloud-related information and training resources.
The OAUG will continue to work with Oracle to support on-premises customers while delivering education, including real-world user stories, that helps them advance along the cloud journey.
