Here are some suggestions / ideas that I hope help you.


1.  The best way to identify a problem -- is to monitor it as it is happening.
     If you can't setup some unix scripts that will save the information to a file for
   later viewing -- then you should consider a software package that can do so like enterprise manager.  I'm not pushing EM either -- as it is hard to install and setup especially on IBM AIx.  utilites we use are:
    iostat
    ps -ef
   sar,  glance and topas or top  are all great utilites that assist us with identifying the problems.  typically we just read the line outputs to a tempfile and awk or cut out what we need it put it into a report format that we want to see and save it witha a time and date.

2.  Be sure you on the latest version of Java behind the sceenes on your forms/web tier.  You could potentilally be using 1.6 -- this may offer some performance gains -- since it is a newer and supposed to be more effecient.

3. Make sure you desktop clients are using current  sun java plugins or J2SE -- we've gotten away from jinitiator -- and found that the plugins are working effeciently.

4.  If Java is taking up all the resources on your machine -- consider tunning the java process and the memory that is allocated to them.  If the amount of memery allocated to/for java is to small -- some java process can spin away and suck up all ther resources on your machine... inside you {machine_name_databasename}.xml file 
look at options for ADJREOPTS & ADJRIOPTS tags  consider setting them higher -to atlease 512MB or 1GB --- only you know what resources are availabe to your servers so -- do this type of work on a test box first.  If you want we can take this offline and talk more.

However, believe it our not a google search on the options above might help out.

5.  Be sure you have applied the latest txk patch -- 
    from metalink search for patch 6372396 -- and see what the latest one is out there... I'm pretty sure there is a new txk patch from 11.5.10.
Why txk -- welll older version of txk (templates) don't always update with auto config as they should --so your servers might not be working as effeciently as you hoped -- Plus it is good to stay current.
