In the advent of the cloud 5-10 years ago there was a doomsday mind-set as to what will happen to the DBA. Progression to the cloud has been slow as companies trying to understand the cloud: Do we own our data, Is the cloud secure, on premise is working just fine? Most of those objections are gone and there is a race to the cloud. So, what do I do now if I am a DBA? What does the future hold? The main DBA functions, include: Capacity planning, installation, configuration, design of database, migration, performance monitoring, security, troubleshooting, backup and data recovery, which are still relevant with the cloud integration?
