A financial and information services company describes how it keeps its Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 environment running around the globe, minimizing downtimes and consolidating operations. Key components include corporate governance, data standards, and common business processes. A 24 x 7 operation, by definition, allows a very short window to perform maintenance and apply patches. This session reviews some of the technical and functional strategies required to operate a global enterprise.
The audience will be exposed to challenges faced when a divesture of a company from a consolidate E-Business Suite environment is required. The complete story of the merger and subsequent divestiture of Arby's will be described. The 2008 merger of Wendy's and Arby's lead to a consolidation to one E-Business instance, the 2011 sell of Arby's gives a case study of how one company/brand was divested and the how the physical separation was accomplished.
The case study follows migration of Actuate reports to BI Publisher in a 900+ user Siebel upgrade at a Fortune 15 company. The Siebel 8.X upgrade requires replacing Actuate reports with Publisher. Our sales contracts for healthcare IT products and services were Actuate reports embedded in proposals, a feature not yet supported with Publisher, and we had to find an alternative solution using Publisher. This study covers our solution, experiences and lessons learned with BI Publisher.

iProcurement implementation can be intimidating with complexities of catalogs, punch-outs, ASLs and so on. IEEE needed a quick implementation that consolidated two different systems, one home-grown and the other Oracle Purchasing. A non-catalog store was implemented that merged best features of approval workflow used by both current systems. The project's most important goal was a smooth transition. That meant creative use of AME, personalizations, workflows and the custom package provided by Oracle.
