Following are some of the key announcements, news and highlights from Oracle OpenWorld 2008 in San Francisco, Calif.

New on the OAUG Knowledge Factory™ — Oracle Fusion Applications: Applications for the Next-Generation Enterprise

During Oracle OpenWorld 2008, Oracle’s Steve Miranda, senior vice president Fusion Applications, and Chris Leone, group vice president, Applications Strategy, delivered the presentation entitled Oracle Fusion Applications: Applications for the Next-Generation Enterprise on September 24. In the presentation, Miranda and Leone laid out a strategy for companies interested in migrating to Fusion Applications and provided a roadmap to Fusion Applications general availability. The OAUG Fusion Council Panel

The OAUG Fusion Council Panel, moderated by OAUG member Floyd Teter and staffed by OAUG members Basheer Khan, John Stouffer, Karen Brownfield and Paul Kirch, along with Oracle’s Chris Leone, provided a forum for attendees to hear about Fusion-related developments on Sunday, September 21. The OAUG Appoints Ambassador to Israel

The OAUG has appointed Ofra Malchi, from member company Top Team, Inc., as the OAUG Ambassador to Israel. The role of the OAUG Ambassador to Israel is to assist the OAUG in growing its global users community and to assist the Oracle users community in Israel in developing programs and events in partnership with the OAUG. Ofra Malchi has been serving as an ambassador to Israel in an unofficial capacity for some time. She was formally recognized and appointed as the OAUG Ambassador to Israel at the OAUG Appreciation Reception during Oracle OpenWorld 2008.

OAUG Member Companies Receive 2008 Oracle Excellence Awards

During Oracle OpenWorld 2008, Oracle announced the recipients of the 2008 Oracle Excellence Award. The award, co-sponsored by the Oracle Applications User group (OAUG) and Quest International Users Group (Quest), recognizes organizations for their success in delivering exceptional business value through their use of Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle Applications.

Among the 2008 Oracle Excellence Award recipients are seven OAUG members: Arrow Electronics, Inc., Chick-fil-A, Cisco, EMC Corporation, KPN, Pearson and Zebra Technologies.

OAUG member company Innowave Technology, LLC received a 2008 Oracle Excellence Award within the System Integration category.

The OAUG congratulates these member organizations for this outstanding accomplishment.

2008 OAUG Oracle Ambassadors Recognized for Service to OAUG Members

The OAUG Oracle Ambassador award recognizes Oracle employees who have made an outstanding contribution to the OAUG and its members by significantly supporting or contributing to the one or more of the OAUG’s goals of advocacy, education and training, and member networking. The OAUG recognized the 2008 Oracle Ambassadors at the OAUG Appreciation Reception during Oracle OpenWorld 2008.

The 2008 OAUG Oracle Ambassadors are: Andrea Rosmarin, Oracle Event Program Manager; Aravindan Sankaramurthy, Oracle Discrete Manufacturing Product Management; Charles Kendig and Kathy Bush, Oracle North America Customer Relations; and Scott Malcolm, Advanced Planning Product Management Director.

OAUG SIGs Meet, Learn and Plan

More than 50 OAUG Special Interest Groups (SIGs) held meetings with more than 2400 people in attendance during the 7th Annual Oracle Users Forum at Oracle OpenWorld. The OAUG Hyperion SIG, for the first time since Oracle sanctioned the OAUG’s strategic integration alliance, met face-to-face and had more than 90 people in attendance on SIG Sunday. The OAUG CRM Connect SIG met face-to-face for the first time since the SIG was formed in August 2008 to serve users of all Oracle-owned customer relationship management (CRM) applications.
