Applications Strategy

Searching for the correct map to Fusion and beyond? Please join us as we discuss a roadmap for the new Fusion technologies and their impact on Release 12 and Oracle Fusion Applications. A clear, concise look at the Fusion tools already in use today and how to merge them into a cohesive strategy for your corporate planning and budgeting efforts.

Presented by Fusion Council Chair John Stouffer, this presentation is designed to “lift the curtain and show how the magic tricks are performed.” Subjects will include Fusion Technology, Oracle’s Path to Fusion Applications, Building Business Processes in Fusion, and The Roadmap to Fusion Applications.

This presentation will explain how the Jet Propulsion Lab developed a detailed roadmap for moving to Fusion Applications. The presentation will explain why JPL chose to move to Fusion Applications, how Applications Unlimited and Lifetime Support were leveraged in building the roadmap, share JPL’s detailed roadmap broken down by logical architecture layers.

Applications Tools & Technology

What kinds of performance issues are you having with your applications database. After a few quick tips and tricks from the panel members, the floor will be turned over to the audience. The primary purpose of the panel will be a question and answer session to help fix your problems.

Supporting a SOX audit requires the DBA to explain to those performing the audit how the database and applications interact. Specific issues such as user accounts, read-only access, file permissions and Oracle Security standards must be explained so that the auditor can formulate a plan to bring the environment into compliance. This presentation covers the technical details of these issues and how to resolve them.

As a key enabler for SOA development, it will be essential to understand what this new tool can do. As a recognized expert on the E-Business Suite’s Workflow product, it is interesting to see the differences in a new tool that seems destined to take its place. What are the benefits of this new tool? What things did workflow do better? The presentation will compare the implementation of a single flow using the two tools.

The Oracle Applications Framework is the underlying technology for most HTML pages in the E-Business Suite. Oracle provides an Extension to JDeveloper that can be used to create and extend OA Framework applications. Making the transition from traditional Oracle development tools can be challenging for any Developer. Armed with the concepts covered in this presentation, Developers can begin building OA extensions with JDeveloper.

BPM, SOA & Application Server, Apps Tools & Tech

While SOA is increasingly gaining aceptance, “SOA enabling” an enterprise can be a daunting prospect. This paper discusses a real world scenario when a high-tech manufacturer used Oracle Fusion BPEL to solve an application integration problem thus delivering immediate value and laying the foundation for evolving to a SOA enabled enterprise.

Learn how Deloite is helping Masco Contractor Services leverage Oracle’s SOA Suite in the delivery of technical interfaces from Oracle EBS. To manage the BPEL interfaces, a SOA web service audit and error management framework was developed using Oracle BAM. BAM’s standard functionality has allowed our client to meet their interface process audit and error handling requirements, with minimal impact to existing processes.

Business Intelligence and Analytic Applications

DRS Technologies has a goal to become an Information-driven company. To achieve this, DRS and Optimum Solutions partnered to create a BI Strategy which identified 12 different BI projects over a 3 year period. Each of these projects represent quick wins with clearly defined ROI. Products used are OBI EE, Oracle Portal, Discoverer, Oracle Identity Management and the E-Business Suite.

Customer Relationship Management

Oracle released its newly migrated demand management tool, Demantra Demand Planning, in 2006. This presentation is a case study of the migration to Demantra for an Oracle EBS 11.5.10 site using primarily Microsoft desktop tools (e.g. Excel, Access) as its legacy sales forecasting tools. This client case study takes place at Maxtek — A division of Tektronix that manufactures custom microelectronic assemblies.

In this session understand the difficult choices when it is time for you to decide on customer model for Oracle implementation. This session focuses on two options of customer modeling — Party Centric and Site Centric, and the impact of these approaches on various Sales and Service business process flows. Financial Management

We will discuss the configuration options associated with Collective Agreement Entitlements and demonstrate how Entitlement Items and Eligibility Profiles were used to address multiple rates and calculation rules for craft union earnings, deductions and employer liabilities.

The session covers Online Employment Applications, Candidate Screening, and Automated Background/Drug Pre-Employment Checks at Verizon Wireless. By using PS 8.9 Recruiting Solutions, Verizon Wireless is able to apply technically advanced improvements to its recruiting process without the need for fully customized independent solutions.

Industry-Specific Communications

We will review how United Online has adapted to the marketplace by providing new products and services, new payment methods, attractive product bundles, and cut costs related to the billing function. We will explain how the company has utilized Oracle’s Billing and Revenue Management (BRM) version 7.2.1 to accomplish these goals and at the same time create a Service Delivery Platform that is poised for future initiatives and growth.

This is a case-study of an upgrade to Oracle Billing and Revenue Management version 7.2.1. The upgrade was done from Portal-Infranet 6.2.2 to Portal 7.2.1 (commonly now referred to as Oracle BRM). In the case study we will review the impacts to the system as well as highlighting some of the key considerations. In addition we will take a forward look at some of the enhancements that the new version has provided and are in progress.

Manufacturing

Most implementations of Flow Manufacturing have a main production line and feeder lines to support the production process. Project Management

Oracle Projects implementers and users need to understand SLA and its impact on their Projects implementations. This presentation will explain SLA and highlight specific functionality geared toward the Oracle Projects suite. It will compare and contrast SLA’s functionality versis AutoAccounting and Account Generator. Additionally, it will detail requirements for upgrading existing installations and outline planning for new installations.

The Oracle Projects suite provides Extensions for use when standard methods don’t meet client needs. Solve five common problems with use of Extensions; Lump Sum billing at the lowest task level — move beyond top task restrictions; Billing labor when labor is capped at a maximum cost rate; Labor Add On billing; Work based billing with automated revenue recognition when payment received; Revenue Hard limits enforced at the lowest task level.

This paper will provide setups needed to ship Contract deliverables and demonstrate use of Deliverable Tracking System to initiate shipping. The use of Deliverable Tracking system to initiate Purchasing documents and updates made by Shipping and Purchasing to Deliverable Tracking System will also be demonstrated.

Supply Chain Planning

Despite the availability of Web-based tools, few companies have successfully automated communications with their suppliers, contract manufacturers and 3PLs. This session will address why most collaboration projects fail and lists the 8 key success factors necessary for any successful rollout. A real-world collaboration project deployed at 1,000 suppliers in less than 6 months will be presented.

This session will demonstrate the use of Oracle WMS and MSCA to implement an automated conveyor system that uses handheld scanners and fixed RFID interrogators as it ships and receives goods using mandate-compliant EPC UHF Gen 2 integrated label-tags. The implementation challenges are discussed and a video of the solution is presented that uses the Warehouse Control System functionality found in Oracles Sensor Edge Server.

Forecasters yearn to understand the impact causal factors have on their forecast accuracy. They struggle to identify the proper causal factors while not being able to use them with traditional forecasting engines. Causal factors, utilized within Demantra, are the logical next step for forecasters to improve their forecast accuracy. Real life examples of causal factors will be given.
