OAUG News

President’s Corner

2007 OAUG President Jan Wagner

2007 OAUG President Jan Wagner

It has been a busy, challenging, exciting and productive year for the OAUG.

There are so many significant accomplishments and milestones that we have realized in 2007. While I’m tempted to list them all, I’d like to mention a few that especially demonstrate the OAUG’s continuing commitment to provide timely, relevant and valued educational and networking opportunities for the Oracle users group community.

Early in the year, the OAUG offered the free Siebel Web series that brought the Siebel community together to learn and discuss issues and best practices. In April, along with our partners, IOUG and Quest, we hosted the extremely successful COLLABORATE 07: Technology and Applications Forum for the Oracle Community and marked a record participation from session presenters, Geos, SIGs, Oracle representatives, exhibitors and attendees.

In the area of education, the OAUG expanded its popular elearning program with the addition of OAUG Training Wednesdays to complement OAUG Training Tuesdays and OAUG Community Thursdays. We also presented the OAUG Fusion Middleware Boot Camp and the OAUG Release 12 Financials Boot Camp in cooperation with Oracle. These educational boot camps were developed specifically for the OAUG user community. With nearly sold-out registration and positive feedback from attendees, the boot camps were extremely successful. Watch for another offering of these boot camps in 2008.

The year came to a close with the OAUG’s participation at Oracle OpenWorld 2007, where we hosted more than 55 SIG meetings and presented more than 35 member-led educational sessions. And, I have just returned from Australia, where the OAUG and the Australian Oracle Users Group (AUSOUG) co-hosted the National Conference Series 2007 — Oracle with 20:20 Foresight.

None of these accomplishments, or the many others that I have not listed specifically, would have been possible without the community leaders who give their time, energy and expertise to making great things happen. I sincerely thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the OAUG. I have very much enjoyed working with all of you and greatly value your sustained support of the OAUG and the user group community. 2008 will surely be another dynamic year.

A full report on 2007 accomplishments and initiatives for 2008 will be given at the Meeting of the Members at COLLABORATE 08: Technology and Applications Forum for the Oracle Community, which will be held April 13-17, 2008, in Denver, Colo. Plan now to attend.

I wish everyone a very happy holiday season and prosperous new year.

 — Jan Wagner, OAUG President

The OAUG Supply Chain Collaboration (SCC) SIG is Now the Advance Planning & Collaboration Special Interest Group (SIG)

The OAUG Supply Chain Collaboration (SCC) SIG has changed its name to the Advance Planning & Collaboration SIG to reflect and communicate its focus on supporting the Oracle Advance Planning Suite (APS).

When the Supply Chain Collaboration (SCC) SIG was formed five years ago, its mission was to be a generic interest group covering the collaborative processes across the Enterprise. Supply chain collaboration was a relatively new concept within the Oracle Apps and users needed a forum to learn and share experiences.

Over the years, as Oracle Advance Planning Suite (APS) was implemented as a set of applications, the SCC SIG evolved to address Oracle APS challenges and opportunities and has been successful in helping users in this space.

Changing its name allows the Advance Planning & Collaboration SIG to take ownership of APS and align key people from Oracle Product Management to support it. The Advance Planning & Collaboration SIG will continue to provide sessions on business topics related to improved supply chain planning and collaborative business processes and will collaborate with other OAUG SIGs to provide sessions on related topics.

OAUG Oracle Business Intelligence SIG (OBI SIG)

The new OAUG OBI SIG was formed recently to focus on the Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) platform and the Oracle BI Applications (formerly known as Siebel Business Analytics Applications). The OBI SIG is dedicated to providing users with knowledge and education on how the OBIEE platform is leveraged in the Fusion Intelligence modules from Oracle Corporation for E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Siebel and other applications.

Please visit the OBI SIG Web site where you will find:

We encourage you to get involved with the new OAUG Oracle Business Intelligence SIG today!
