Preparations for COLLABORATE 08: Technology and Applications Forum for the Oracle Community are well underway. And, one of the most important aspects of planning and implementing a conference as relevant and valuable as COLLABORATE is generating the participation of the greater user community.
So, with that, I would like to remind you that the COLLABORATE 08 — OAUG Forum Call for Presentations is still open. I encourage anyone who has experience or expertise that he or she can share with others to submit a presentation for consideration. The call for presentations deadline for submission is October 28, 2007, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
We are seeking presentations on all Oracle Applications, including Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, Siebel, Oracle Retail, Oracle Communications, Hyperion and MetaSolv Software, as well as applications technology. The COLLABORATE 08 — OAUG Forum will feature a number of different presentation tracks. Within each track, there will be specific industry or product areas of emphasis or focus.
In addition, new this year, all presenters submitting papers by the October 28, 2007, submission deadline will be entered into the Presenter Incentive Program drawing to win round-trip air travel to Denver, Colorado, and accommodations in a deluxe hotel suite during COLLABORATE 08. Second and third place prizes will also be awarded.
Our user community’s vast knowledge, relevant experience and admiral willingness to network and learn with others is the foundation of the success the OAUG and of the COLLABORATE conferences. Find out how you can join the OAUG as a presenter for COLLABORATE 08 and enjoy all the benefits of being part of this great event.

OAUG Member Floyd Teter Receives Oracle ACE Award
Floyd Teter, systems engineer for Institutional Business Systems at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., was recently named an Oracle ACE by Oracle. The Oracle ACE Program recognizes and rewards members of the Oracle Technology and Applications communities for their technical proficiency and willingness to share their knowledge and experiences. Oracle ACE recipients are chosen based on their significant contributions to and activity in their respective communities.
Within the OAUG, Teter is co-chair of the OAUG Fusion Council, an active participant in the OAUG’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and Customer Support Council, and a regular conference presenter.
Oracle is accepting nominations for the Oracle ACE Program. For more information about the Oracle ACE Program and instructions on how to nominate a potential Oracle ACE award candidate, visit Oracle’s Web site.

The OAUG Seeks Assistance in Developing New Member Service
An OAUG member task force is currently working to develop The OAUG Knowledge Factory — a contemporary and dynamic platform for subject matter experts to share knowledge with other users.
The OAUG Knowledge Factory will contain a broad range of content — from short tips and techniques to comprehensive white papers — and will provide real-world knowledge for installation, set-up, configuration, extension, customization, integration, testing, diagnostics, tuning, patching and change management.
The OAUG Knowledge Factory task force is looking for development and implementation assistance in building this program, including:
- Implementation Team: volunteers who would like to assist with various aspects of implementation of the OAUG Knowledge Factory
- Advisory Team: individuals to review and provide input and advice on OAUG Knowledge Factory decisions
- Early Adopters: those responsible for assisting with soliciting, generating and managing initial OAUG Knowledge Factory content

The OAUG has been working closely with Oracle to help develop a compelling educational and networking program for Oracle OpenWorld 2007. Be sure to join the OAUG at Oracle OpenWorld 2007!

Update your OAUG Profile
The OAUG recently added Hyperion products to the OAUG member contact profile system. If you are a Hyperion user, we encourage you to update your OAUG profile to indicate the Hyperion products you are using. This allows OAUG members to search within our database to network and connect with other members using the same products. It also allows the OAUG to be sure you are receiving Hyperion-specific communications. To update your profile:
- Click “my oaug profile” near the top-right of any page on the OAUG Web site.
- Login with your e-mail address and password.
- Click “Update my Profile.”
- Select “Continue” at the bottom of the page.
- Select the Hyperion Applications that you use in the “Applications Used” field.
While you are updating your profile, please check to make sure all your other contact/profile information is current. If you have any questions about updating your OAUG profile, please contact OAUG Member Services at membership@oaug.com.
PeopleSoft General Ledger SIG to Coordinate Community
Are you interested in connecting with people who use the PeopleSoft General Ledger application on a daily basis to share issues and ideas? If so, the OAUG and the PeopleSoft Credit and Accounts Receivable SIG (PSCARE) would like to hear from you to determine the level of interest in forming a PeopleSoft G/L SIG. More than fifty-five OAUG SIGs will be hosting meetings at Oracle OpenWorld 2007 on Sunday, November 11, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Several of OAUG’s newest affiliates, including the Hyperion SIG, the Oracle Business Intelligence SIG and the PeopleSoft Upgrade SIG, will be hosting their inaugural meetings during this time. Puget Sound OUG Applications SIG Organizational Meeting
The Puget Sound OUG Applications SIG will hold its organizational meeting on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Oracle’s offices at 500 108th Ave NE, 2nd floor, Bellevue, WA, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to approve the SIG’s bylaws, elect the initial Board of Directors and determine the type of programs that will be offered by the group to support the region’s Oracle Applications base.
All area Oracle Applications users, managers, technical specialists and any other interested party are encouraged to attend if you have an interest in leadership for this group. Please watch the PSOUG home page for a link to more information about this important event and a copy of the proposed bylaws.
