On behalf of the OAUG Board of Directors, I would like to thank you for attending COLLABORATE 07: Technology and Applications Forum for the Oracle Community. I hope that you enjoyed participating in five days of networking, education and hands-on training.

The event attracted more than 7,000 visitors and was sponsored by over 200 vendors featuring products that enable the family of Oracle Applications users to further their knowledge, experience and understanding of the applications they use.

Highlights of the conference included:

A complete conference wrap-up is included in this edition of OAUG eNews in the OAUG Conference and Event Updates section.

We are in the process of uploading the OAUG Forum papers and presentations to the OAUG Conference Paper Database and expect to make session materials available to OAUG members in the next few weeks.

Additionally, the OAUG is working with the IOUG and Quest to make all COLLABORATE 07 conference papers available to conference attendees for review. We will notify all OAUG attendees via e-mail when this information is accessible. Please note that access to all papers will be for a limited time only (May 14-28, 2007). After this time period, OAUG members will continue to have unlimited access to the OAUG Forum papers and presentations via the OAUG Conference Paper Database.

Siebel Web Series Session Recordings Now Available

The OAUG is committed to enhancing the capabilities of Siebel and Oracle CRM users in their day-to-day use and management of the growing family of Oracle Applications. In keeping with this commitment, the OAUG and Oracle recently offered free educational and training sessions to the Siebel community via the Siebel Web Series. These online sessions were conducted by Oracle and OAUG partners. Series topics included Siebel 8.0 Upgrading Training, Siebel CRM On Demand for PeopleSoft ERP Users and Best Practices for Performance and Scalability. Complete recordings of these sessions are now available on the OAUG Web site. Be sure to check the OAUG Web site often for upcoming Siebel educational offerings.


Demystifying Fusion: Featured OAUG eLearning Sessions

As Oracle continues to develop its Fusion Applications, the family of Oracle Applications users is looking to discover additional details regarding Fusion and how it can help make the most of the investment in Oracle Applications.

The OAUG Fusion Council is already working diligently to provide OAUG members with the most up-to-date information regarding Fusion.

Looking ahead to post-COLLABORATE 07, upcoming Fusion training will focus on four topics: WebCenter; Oracle Design Patterns; Business Process Analysis (BPA); and JDeveloper for Oracle Applications. Oracle President Charles Phillips Unveils Oracle Application Integration Architecture at COLLABORATE 07

During his keynote presentation on Monday, April 16, 2007, at COLLABORATE 07: Technology and Applications Forum for the Oracle Community, Oracle President Charles Phillips shared with conference attendees the outline for Oracle Application Integration Architecture, an open, standards-based platform for business process management across Oracle, third-party and custom applications.

As part of the Oracle Application Integration Architecture, Oracle is delivering pre-built integrations across Oracle ERP, CRM and industry applications using a common object model and an open, Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) based platform. Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft Enterprise Supplier Invoice Payment Survey

COLLABORATE 07: Technology and Applications Forum for the Oracle Community, which was hosted by the OAUG, IOUG and Quest, April 15-19, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Convention Center, was a resounding success.

This year, approximately 7,000 visitors participated in more than 400 OAUG Forum educational sessions. Additionally, sessions were held with more than 70 of the OAUG’s geographic and special interest user groups. The conference also featured more than 200 exhibitors offering demonstrations of the latest technology and applications from the Oracle family.

Oracle executives hosted more than 130 sessions on the usage of the family of Oracle Applications. During his keynote presentation on Monday, April 16, Oracle President Charles Phillips shared with conference attendees the outline for Oracle Application Integration Architecture, an open, standards-based platform for business process management across Oracle, third-party and custom applications.

“The OAUG is pleased with Oracle’s Application Integration Architecture because the pre-built integration features reduce the cost and effort previously involved in independently integrating applications,” said Jan Wagner, OAUG president. “Application Integration Architecture provides an architectural footprint for users to integrate other applications with Oracle products in order to receive the most value for their technology investments.”

During the OAUG Annual Meeting of the Members, Steven Hughes, OAUG executive director, and Jan Wagner, OAUG president, shared an OAUG organizational update, as well as membership awards and volunteer recognition.

During the meeting, the OAUG also named Mohan Dutt of Hyperion Solutions Corporation as the 2007 OAUG Member of the Year. Dutt was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the OAUG and its membership, including his extensive work with the OAUG SIG community. The OAUG also recognized Annapolis, Maryland-based USinternetworking as the 2007 Innovator of the Year. In addition, Morristown, New Jersey-based Core Services was recognized with the “Best of Show” designation for their participation in the COLLABORATE 07 Exhibitor Showcase.

In addition, the OAUG presented three conference attendees with outstanding prizes at the close of the Meeting of the Members. The award winners included: Randy Babson with SimplexGrinnell (COLLABORATE 08 conference registration); Ming Zhang with Inovant, LLC (Visa) (one-year OAUG membership); and Gopinath Tammana with Echostar Communications Corporation (HP Pavilion dv6000t Notebook Computer). Special thanks to 2007 OAUG Star Partner HP for sponsoring the notebook drawing.

“COLLABORATE 07 highlighted the continued efforts of the user group community to work together to benefit all Oracle users,” said Wagner. “Our slogan ‘what happens at COLLABORATE 07 doesn’t stay at COLLABORATE 07’ demonstrates our desire for attendees to utilize the information gathered and relationships created at COLLABORATE 07 once they return to their respective cities and countries.”

There are a number of customers who are in the process of upgrading to version 11 or 12 and many more are considering an upgrade.
